Pashmina Shawl

The craft is believed to be originated in Iran & been introduced in kashmir by 15th century. Now it become a popular handicraft item. Even though all the papier-mache of Kashmir look similar at first glance but they must be different in prices. The price of mache depends upon the type and the quality of the product.
Kashmiri Jackets
For more than 500 years, families of talented artisans in the Kashmir Valley have drawn inspriation for their rich embroidery from the pallette and flora of the the Himalayan foothills. Using the traditional ari double-chain stitch (much like crochet), they work complex designs onto 100% merino wool to create vibrant patterns on jackets.
Silk Textiles
From the earliest period after the emergence of Islam, Silk textiles were among the most economically and artistically significant material objects. One important type of textile is known as Silk, a word of Persian origin that means "embroidery" and which later referred to the workshops in which these cloths were made. Silk textiles were produced for the ruler to offer to favored individuals as honorary gifts, and often contain inscriptions that include the ruler's name and the date of manufacture.
Tibetan Art
Tibetan art is often represented as being confined to thangkas and Tibetan statues. Glancing over a stack of catalogues presenting Himalayan and South Asian art available at the big auction houses, one might conclude that the Tibetans were capable of producing little worthy of the word "Art" besides thangkas and statues. Granted these forms may represent some of the highest achievements of an art which was confined largely to monasteries, Tibetan art is much more encompassing than this narrow view. We wish to demonstrate how woefully inadequate this narrow interpretation of Tibetan art actually is. Here we will confine ourselves to painting, whether it is in a two dimensional form such as a thangka or on a three dimensional object such as a Tibetan storage box.
